“Kite Flyers” Painting
Magnificent, large, oil on canvas entitled “Kite Flyers” by Lenard Kester, signed lower left, from the 1950s. This painting depicts boys on a beach with ruins. They are flying kites and lounging atop the ruined archways. A picnic, beach blankets, and a vase with a bouquet are laid out in the lower left. Shades of blue blend between the shallow water of the shore, the deeper dark blue of the sea, and the sky. Heavier texturing lends to the realness of the ruins’ stones. The oil paint is finished with a semi-gloss clear coat providing a lovely sheen. There is one small chip to paint in the upper right quadrant. This piece is framed in a narrow walnut and burlap frame. The frame has a few small dings to corners. In overall great vintage condition.
