An exceptionally designed midcentury, walnut low dresser by Renaissance man, Piet Hein. Hein was a Danish mathematician, poet, inventor, and philosopher who made his foray into the design world in the 1960s.
This piece features three large central drawers flanked by three smaller drawers on either side, one stack of which is concealed by a cabinet door. The six exterior drawers open via beautiful, brass, surfboard-shaped pulls. The three drawers on the left hand side are concealed behind a wonderfully detailed cabinet door. This door has a vertically grained front with a sculpted, woven pattern surrounding the top and left side. The door opens by a pull matching those of the other drawers.
This piece sits atop a uniquely styled, contoured, floating base with slender legs reaching up and around the sides to meet the overhanging top. The top of this piece has been refinished in-house. There are some small chips to some drawer faces. There are also dings and finish wear around the edge banding surrounding this dresser’s top. The front and right side of this piece are lighter-toned from sun fading. One interior drawer has significant finish wear. See pics for all blemishes. In overall good vintage condition considering age and use. This piece offers ample storage while acting as a wonderful, eye-catching statement piece.
